It was Jan 24th and I was recovering from a horrendous Christmas in which I’d been told how to parent, criticised and shouted at by my mother-in-law. I spent Christmas evening in tears. I was 18 months into triplet motherhood not just isolated but alienated. I’d been looking for my tribe or village, but I didn’t find it anywhere. I didn’t go to NCT. I didn’t have mum friends to sip lattes with, I couldn’t even get my pram into most cafes. I couldn’t linger after baby activities and set up playdates, I had three boys to wrestle back into the pram. I’d look at the perfect kids in perfect homes in perfectly matching outfits on Instagram and then at my porridge-splattered kitchen strewn with Lego blocks and wonder where I was going wrong. And then I saw the reel (above) from a top motherhood influencer, that many of you here may love, which is why I was worried about telling this story. She may not have written it herself, she may have social media people to do it all, she may not even believe it but this is what she said:
